Beescats Soccer Boys: A luta contra a homofobia entra em campo

O presente artigo faz uma reflexão sobre a relação entre futebol e homofobia, a partir do surgimento do primeiro time gay de futebol do Rio de Janeiro (RJ), o BeesCats Soccer Boys. O trabalho pretende analisar como se constituiu na capital carioca o movimento do futebol gay e como este movimento tem influenciado na luta contra a homofobia no país, tomando como ponto de partida o documentário “Soccer Boys”, dirigido por Carlos Guilherme Vogel, bem como os estudos relacionados à Sociologia do Esporte e à Comunicação, que evidenciam a importância do futebol para a compreensão da sociedade brasileira.

This paper reflects on the relationship between football and homophobia, from the emergence of the first gay soccer team in Rio de Janeiro
(RJ), BeesCats Soccer Boys. The work intends to analyze how the gay soccer movement was constituted in the city of Rio de Janeiro and how this movement has influenced the fight against homophobia in the country, using as a starting point the documentary “Soccer Boys”, directed by Carlos Guilherme Vogel, as well as the studies related to the Sociology of Sport and to the Social Communication, which show the importance of football for the understanding of Brazilian society.
