O futebol suburbano e as inspirações de Lima Barreto: representações e tensões

O presente estudo busca compreender as representações construídas por Lima Barreto sobre o futebol em periódicos e romances publicados na cidade do Rio de Janeiro no início do século XX. Para tanto, apresentaremos um panorama sobre o futebol no período, estabelecendo discussões sobre os estigmas e representações dos clubes do subúrbio e as críticas tecidas por Lima Barreto. Acreditamos que este trabalho tem o potencial de ampliar nosso olhar sobre as relações estabelecidas entre os literatos e suburbanos, não só por discutir uma região ainda pouco investigada, mas, sobretudo, por abordar estratégias de sociabilidade de um importante grupo social sob a ótica de Lima Barreto.

The present study seeks to understand the representations made by Lima Barreto on football in periodicals and novels published in the city of Rio de Janeiro at the beginning of the 20th century. To do so, we will present an overview of soccer in the period, establishing discussions about the stigmas and representations of the suburban clubs and the criticisms made by Lima Barreto. We believe that this work has the potential to broaden our view of the relations established between the literary and the suburban, not only to discuss a region that has not yet been investigated but, above all, to approach strategies of sociability of an important social group from the point of view of Lima Barreto.
